Prof. Thomas J. Webster, Professor, Hebei University of Technology, China. Thomas J. Webster's (H index: 115; Google Scholar) degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has served as a professor at Purdue (2000-2005), Brown (2005-2012), and Northeastern (2012-2021; serving as Chemical Engineering Department Chair from 2012 - 2019) Universities and has formed over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health. He is currently helping those companies and serves as a professor at Hebei University of Technology, Saveetha University, Vellore Institute of Technology, UFPI, and others. Dr. Howard E. Gendelman is the Margaret R. Larson Professor of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience and director of the Center for Neurodegenerative Disorders at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Gendelman is credited with unraveling how functional alterations in brain immunity induce metabolic changes and ultimately lead to neural cell damage across a broad range of infectious, metabolic, and neurodegenerative disorders. These discoveries have had broad implications on developmental therapeutics aimed at preventing, slowing, or reversing neural maladies. He is also credited with demonstrating that AIDS dementia is a reversible metabolic encephalopathy. His work has led to novel immunotherapy strategies for Parkinson's disease that have been successfully tested in early clinical trials as a result of translational investigations.

Dr. Heinrich has his professional focus on development of pharmaceutical products in the field of nanotechnology and drug & RNA delivery. In his Ph.D. in the group of Prof. Dr. Helmuth Mohwald at Johannes-Gutenberg Universität Mainz and academic career in Italy and Brazil he researched lipid membranes and organized bio-molecular systems. Having moved to pharmaceutical industry he developed nanoparticle products with application in cancer, inflammatory diseases autoimmune diseases and other indications. At BioNTech, he is the scientific lead of the formulation and analytics department, which develops RNA therapeutics based on a broad scope of delivery technologies.

Dr. Giulio Maria Pasinetti, The Saunders Family Chair and Professor of Neurology, received an M.D. from the Milan University School of Medicine and a Ph.D. from the University of Milan. He is currently the Program Director of the NIH funded Mount Sinai Center for Molecular Integrative Neuroresilience and the Chief of the Brain Institute Center of Excellence for Novel Approaches to Neurodiagnostics and Neurotherapeutics. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry, of Neuroscience, and of Geriatrics and Adult Development. Dr. Pasinetti is the recipient of several academic awards including the prestigious Zenith and Temple awards from the Alzheimer's Association. Prof.Linheng is an international renown scientist in studying stem cells and their associated niches in hematopoietic and intestinal tissues. He was among the first to identify the endosteal niche in supporting hematopoietic stem cell (HSC), the first cellular component of niche identified in a mammalian system. He was also among the first to propose a model of co-existing reserve (a quiescent pool) and active adult stem cells in the same tissue in mammals. This concept not only provides an explanation for controversial observations of both quiescent and cycling stem cells in several tissues including bone marrow, intestine, and hair follicle in mammals, but also accounts for some aspects of drug resistance in cancer. Linheng has contributed to the field by characterizing and demonstrating the roles of several developmental signaling pathways in the regulation of stem cells. These include FGF, IGF, and Notch, BMP, and Wnt signaling pertaining to self-renewal; the PTEN-controlled PI3K-Akt signaling, in coordination with catenin to promote HSC self-renewal, and the role of non-canonical Wnt signaling in maintaining quiescent stem cells. He shows a critical role in epigenetic (via DNA methylation and non-coding RNA) regulation of H19 Igf2 and Gtl2 maintains primitive stem cells via suppression of mitochondrial biogenesis and metabolism; as well as the Hoxb cluster that maintains normal stem cells but also contributes to leukemogenesis. His recent works open possibilities of translational medicine including 1) Robust expanding human umbilical cord blood (UBC) HSCs by targeting Ythdf2, 2) Identification of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) that facilitates cartilage regeneration, 3) Identification of cancer stem cells immune escaping mechanism mediated by catenin, 4) Tumor-initiating stem cell shape their microenvironment into an immunosuppressive barrier. 5) Development of drugs that target immune escape and immunosuppression. Dr. Farid Menaa (B.Sc. Eng., B.Sc. Bio., M.Sc. Genetics, Master Gerontology/Geriatry, Ph.D. Radiation Oncology and Gerontology, EMBA Entrepreneurship and MD candidate), is an inter- and multi-disciplinary professional. He is a Professor, principal investigator, Director, consultant editor, reviewer, event organizer, and entrepreneur. He earned his degrees with highest distinctions from prestigious French universities and institutions. He followed a post-doctoral in oncology as a NIH-fellow (San Diego, California, USA; 2004-2007). Subsequently, he pursued his career in dermatology, and stem cells as a DFG-Fellow (Wuerzburg, Germany; 2007-2009). Then, he was promoted as Chief Scientific Officer and Vice-President R&D at Fluorotronics, Inc. (CA, USA; 2009-2010), a nanotechnology and fluorine chemical company. Eventually, he was appointed Principal Investigator in Hematology and Genomics as a FAPESP-Fellow (São Paulo, Brazil; 2010-2012). Prof. Brandon Lucke-Wold was born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Neuroscience and distinction in honors from Baylor University. He completed his MD/Ph.D., Master's in Clinical and Translational Research, and the Global Health Track at West Virginia University School of Medicine. His research focus was on traumatic brain injury, neurosurgical simulation, and stroke. At West Virginia University, he also served as a health coach for the Diabetes Prevention and Management program in Morgantown and Charleston, WV, which significantly improved health outcomes for participants. In addition to his research and public health projects, he is a co-founder of the biotechnology company Wright-Wold Scientific, and the pharmaceutical company CTE Cure, and was a science advocate on Capitol Hill through the Washington Fellow program. He has also served as president of the WVU chapters for the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the Neurosurgery Interest Group, and the Erlenmeyer Initiative Entrepreneur group. In addition, he has served as vice president for the graduate student neuroscience interest group, Nu Rho Psi Honor Society, and medical students for global health. He was an active member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He is currently a member of the Young Neurosurgeon's Committee. He is married to Noelle Lucke-Wold and has a toddler daughter named Esme. As a family, they enjoy running with their dogs, rock climbing, and traveling the world. In his spare time, Brandon frequently runs half marathons and 10ks together with his wife. Brandon also enjoys reading and discussing philosophy and playing chess. Dr. Andreia Freitas, Researcher in the National Institute of Agrarian and Veterinarian Research (INIAV, Portugal) Andreia Freitas studied Chemistry in the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon, and graduated as MS, in Analytical Chemistry (2008) also in IST. Received her PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2015), specialty of Bromatology and Hydrology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra. With 20 years of experience, she is a researcher in the field of Food Safety specially in veterinary drug residues analysis and contaminants in food products in the Nacional Institute of Agrarian and Veterinary Research (INIAV) in the National Reference Laboratory for Food Safety. She is also member of the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV) of the Network of Chemistry and Technology (REQUIMTE) there is a Portuguese Research Centre for Sustainable Chemistry.

Dr. Chee Kong YAP has been working as a full professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) since 2021. Prof. Yap has been an academician for more than 18 years at UPM and 23 years as a researcher. Prof. Yap has supervised more than 80 undergraduates and 30 postgraduate students in the fields of ecotoxicology, environmental biology, environmental sciences, water quality, and ecotoxicological genetics. Prof/ Yap has published more than 350 papers in refereed academic journals, 5 books (three published in NOVA Science Publishers, USA), and 32 book chapters. Until December 2022, 219 of them have been indexed in Elsevier's Scopus with an H-index of 32 (>3260 citations). Prof. Yap has also been invited an honorary as Editorial Board member for more than 30 international academic journals. Prof Yap has been an invited visiting researcher at the National Institute of Environmental Studies, Tsukuba (Japan). Nationally, Prof. Yap has been officially appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the INTI International University Malaysia. The Ruohola-Baker laboratory is dissecting the molecular mechanisms that control stem cell self-renewal and regeneration capacity, both in normal and pathological situations. We have identified metabolic differences between pluripotent, pre- and post-implantation ESC and are now dissecting how metabolites regulate epigenetic states. The laboratory works on three questions: 1) metabolic determinants of stem cells and regeneration 2) stem cell aging and 3) using stem cells to dissect the mechanism of disease states. The laboratory is dissecting the etiology of long chain fatty acid induced SIDS, a heart defect that can cause sudden infant death and Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI), a defects in stem cells for ameloblasts that normally deposit enamel, the hardest tissue in our body.

Prof. Stephanie Andrade obtained her PhD in Biological and Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, in 2022. Her PhD thesis was conducted both at FEUP and at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), United States. S Andrade is currently a Contracted Researcher at LEPABE/ALiCE. Her main areas of expertise are the design, optimization, characterization, and evaluation of nanoparticles for the encapsulation of therapeutic molecules for several biomedical applications. She is/was involved in 6 projects, which resulted in 25 articles published in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals and 2 book chapters. These publications with high scientific impact have resulted in over 600 citations and an h-index of 12.

Dr. Peng Shi is a professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Wuhan University and a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University. After his postdoctoral training at MIT in Electrical Engineering and Biological Engineering, he joined CityU Hong Kong and has been a faculty member in the BME department since 2011. Dr. Shi works at the convergence between neuroscience and engineering by taking advantage of an interdisciplinary approach that involves nano-/micro-fabrication, microfluidics, ultra-fast optics, high-resolution microscopy and imaging processing. He focuses on solving important emerging problems in translational neuro-engineering, especially in the development of high-throughput neuro-technology and screening platform for discovery of novel therapeutic targets. Dr. Shi received the Simon’s research award in 2010, and was elected to the 1000 China Young Talent program. He also received the President Award for research excellence in 2017, outstanding supervisor award in 2018 at CityU, and a special recognition as Young Scholars by World Cultural Council in 2018.

Dr. Yi Tan received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Chongqing University, Chongqing, China in 2004. Then he became a Postdoc Fellow (2007), an Assistant Professor (2013), a tenured Associate Professor (2019), and an Endowed Chair (2020) in Departments of Pediatrics, Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Tan has broad background in diabetic complications and molecular pharmacology, with specific training and expertise in diabetic cardiomyopathy, vasculopathy, kidney disease, liver steatosis, and atherosclerosis. His research focuses on deciphering the mechanisms of metabolic disorder and oxidative stress in the development of diabetic complications and developing novel therapies targeting growth factors/receptors (including SDF-1, CXCR4, CXCR7, FGF1, and FGF21) for treatment of diabetic complications, with special emphasis on developing agonists and/or antagonists targeting growth factor receptors to stimulate multiple beneficial effectors (such as MT, Nrf2, AMPK, etc.) for promoting cell redox homeostasis, metabolic programming, survival and function, and tissue repair. Research Interests: The role of SDF-1/CXCR4/CXCR7 axes in diabetic complications. The role of FGFs (e.g.: FGF1, FGF5, FGF16, FGF21, etc.) in diabetic complications. Antioxidative mechanisms of metallothionein and Nrf2 in diabetic complications.

Dr. Elena Poverenov received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science and performed her postdoctoral training in the field of materials chemistry and polymers. In 2011, Elena received an independent research position at Volcani Institute, ARO. Elena's agenda is to introduce advanced materials chemistry and nanotechnology approaches in the field of agriculture, food, and the environment. Her research lab developed several new concepts that made a high general impact on the material and agricultural sciences worldwide. Elena has published more than 50 articles in leading international journals among them the top scientific journals in her research fields and multidisciplinary journals (JACS, Nature, Green Chemistry, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, ChemComm, Food Chemistry, Food Hydrocolloids, and more). Elena presented her research at numerous conferences (24 invited lectures) and organized 5 international and 5 local conferences/sessions. For introducing new research directions, Elena received "the Excellent Young Researcher Prize, ARO (2015), "Young Scientist Awardee for Research in Food and Agriculture" International Agropolis and Olam Foundation (2017), Mashov Agriculture Prize (2019), and Igal Alon Prize (2020). Dr. Benson Edagwa's research is to transform antiretroviral therapies into novel targeted long-acting slow effective-release antiretroviral therapy to facilitate hepatitis B HBV and HIV prevention and treatment strategies. Benson has an extensive background in drug delivery, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology that includes the development of new strategies for the synthesis of biologically active natural products and their unnatural analogs. He has equal expertise in the design, development, and evaluation of "unique" pro-drugs and drug formulations and their application to human diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, HBV, and tuberculosis. Benson is also one of the Scientific Founders of Exavir Therapeutics Inc. a startup company that is focused on the development of ultra-long-acting therapies for the treatment and prevention of viral infections and addiction. Work from his laboratory and collaborators has demonstrated that daily oral therapies could be transformed into long-acting parenteral formulations to facilitate the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions with no recorded toxicities.

Prof. Dan Tagle is the director of NCATS Office of Special Initiatives. He also recently served as the Centers acting deputy director, as well as the acting director of NCATS' Office of Grants Management and Scientific Review, now the Division of Extramural Activities, and as executive secretary to the NCATS Advisory Council and Cures Acceleration Network Review Board. Prior to joining NCATS, Tagle was a program director for neurogenetics at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), where he was involved in developing programs concerning genomics-based approaches for basic and translational research in inherited brain disorders. Prior to joining NINDS in 2001, Tagle was an investigator and section head of molecular neurogenetics at the National Human Genome Research Institute and has been involved in the highly collaborative effort toward the positional cloning of genes for Huntington’s disease, ataxia-telangiectasia and Niemann-Pick disease type C. He has served on numerous committees and advisory boards, including the editorial boards of the journals Gene and the International Journal of Biotechnology. Tagle obtained his Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1990. He was an NIH National Research Service Award postdoctoral fellow in human genetics in the laboratory of Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D., at the University of Michigan. Tagle has authored more than 150 scientific publications and has garnered numerous awards and patents.

Huang Wei Ling was born in Taiwan, raised and graduated in medicine in Brazil, specialist in infectious and parasitic diseases, a General Practitioner, and a Parenteral and Enteral Medical Nutrition Therapist. Once in charge of the Hospital Infection Control Service of the City of Francis General Hospital, she was responsible for the control of all prescribed antimicrobial medication and received an award for the best paper presented at the Brazilian Hospital Infection Control Congress in 1998. Since 1997, she works with the approach and treatment of all chronic diseases in a holistic way, with treatment guided through the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hippocrates. Researcher at the University of Sao Paulo, in the Ophthalmology department from 2012 to 2013.Author of the theory Constitutional Homeopathy of the Five Elements Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Author of more than 100 publications about the treatment of a variety of diseases rebalancing the internal energy using Hippocrates' thoughts.

Luann Wendel Pereira de Sena graduated in Generalist Pharmacy from the University Center of the State of Pará, Specialization in Pharmacology from the Federal University of Pará and in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Prescription from the Graduate and Graduate Institute, Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Federal University of Pará, Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Innovation from the Federal University of Pará and Post-Doctorate in Tropical Diseases from the Nucleus of Tropical Medicine of the Federal University of Pará. I possess a Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2010) granted by the Faculty of Pharmacy from the Lisbon University, and a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Technology (2017) from the same University. During my PhD I had the opportunity to do research stays at Ludwig Maximillian University (LMU), Munich, Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) and Vall D'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), Barcelona. Actually, I am a post-doctoral researcher at Drug Delivery and Targeting Group, VHIR working in the field of nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems applied to several diseases. Curriculum Being a multidisciplinary scientist, during 10 years of research career I acquired expertise in different areas of knowledge such as Pharmaceutical Technology, Nanomedicine, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer Signalling Pathways, Preclinical Validation, etc. My board knowledge in the field of biomedical sciences granted by my training as pharmacist and my research experience, allowed me to have a comprehensive and integrative view of the different stages of drug development from the bench to the bedside. My career has been fully dedicated to the design, development, and preclinical validation of innovative delivery systems for a wide range of challenging diseases with a special attention to oncology. My active participation at different international projects (12) and collaborations with a variety of research groups have resulted in the authorship of several publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals (35 publications, 15 as corresponding/first author, h-index 18). Also, she is co-inventor of two patents about delivery systems for gene delivery and the creation of cell penetrating peptides. Moreover, I am truly active in science dissemination both to share the knowhow with the pairs at international conferences, and also in citizenship dissemination actions. Additionally, due to her experience in the fields of Pharmaceutical Technology and Molecular Biology, I am giving classes at the Master of Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Barcelona. Prof. Songmin Ying (MD, PhD) is Vice Dean of the Fourth Affliated Hospital and the International School of Medicine at Zhejiang University. He obtained his PhD from Technical University of Munich, Germany, in 2007. Following postdoctoral work at the University of Oxford, UK for 6 years, he became a Principal Investigator and Professor at the Institute of Respiratory Diseases at Zhejiang University in China. His research focuses on genomic instability in contribution to the pathogenesis of chronic airway diseases as well as lung cancer. He has published over 70 research articles in top journals (i.e. Nature, Nature Cell Biology, Molecular Cell, Cell Research, Advanced Science, STTT, Nucleic Acids Research, Biomaterials, JACI, Cancer Research and EMBO Reports etc.), with an H-index of 27. Dr. Shanshan Zhao is a senior pharmacist at China Emergency General Hospital, also a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) inspector for China National Medical Products Administration. When she was a Ph.D. candidate, she did research about nanoparticle based drug delivery system. After she joined in China Emergency General Hospital, she has been the drug and medical device clinical trial institution secretary and she has participated in hundreds of drug and medical device clinical trials. And now she is doing stem cells research in Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore. Dr. Shanshan Zhao is competent in both basic medical research and clinical medical research. She is also a thesis supervisor for some MSc students.

My research work mainly focuses on the construction and function of DNA nanomachines, which are cutting-edge and challenging topics. I designed and constructed unique DNA motifs using a short circular DNA nanotechnology technique and functionalized these probes with fluorophores, gold nanoparticles, small molecular drugs, and peptide ligands. To achieve plasmon resonance effects, I achieved nano-specific precision in organizing plasmonic nanoparticles on the nano DNA frameworks. My work on the DNA nanomachines provided an efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer mechanism that realizes the bio-imaging, detection of biological events, and functions of the biomolecules. Newman Osafo is a pharmacist, senior lecturer and researcher with the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, KNUST, Kumasi Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology with research interest in inflammation and cancer. He is a member of various international scientific research societies in the area of natural drug research and pharmacology and is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana. He has several publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals on inflammopharmacology and cancer and has also authored a number of book chapters on neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disorders. Newman serves as editorial and review board member of some scholarly journals and has been an ad hoc reviewer for over 30 reputable journals over the years and has reviewed more than 150 scientific articles.

Ahmad Zare Javid, Associate Professor Ahmad Zare Javid is the Head of the Department of Nutrition and an associate professor in the School of Allied Medical Sciences at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Iran, holding a Ph.D. in nutrition sciences and graduated from Newcastle University, UK. His research interests are mainly on Nutrition, Diabetes mellitus, and its complications, antioxidants, nutrition, oral health, periodontal disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity, sports nutrition, etc. He has a number of publications and undergoing research in these fields. He is also teaching several nutritional modules advanced nutrition, nutrition counseling and education, nutrition physiology, nutrition, oral health, nutrition during the lifespan, Nutrition for specific groups, advanced English, and medical nutrition therapy, for Ph.D., MSc, and BSc students. He is also a thesis supervisor for some Ph.D., MSc, and BSc students.
