Dr. Jieshan Qiu is Cheung-Kong Distinguished Professor of Carbon Science and Chemical Engineering, and Dean of Chemical Engineering College at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), China. He is an internationally recognized research and thought leader in chemical engineering and carbon science. His research encompasses both fundamental and applied aspects of carbon materials and science, with a focus on the methodologies of producing carbon materials for energy storage and conversion, catalysis, and environment protection. He has published 800+ papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Mater., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Environ. He received his PhD, Dr. Ma worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow during 2013-2014 in the School of Chemical Engineering in the University of Adelaide. He was awarded ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) in 2015 and moved to University of Newcastle in 2017. He joined Swinburne in 2021, and is now leading an independent research team focusing on functional materials for energy and environment related applications. He has been working on the rational design, synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials composed of a large variety of components from carbons, metals, metal oxides, organic polymers, metal-organic frameworks to their corresponding composites. He especially aims at the energy and environment related applications of these nanostructured materials including catalysis, adsorption&separation, and energy conversion&storage (battery, supercapacitor). He detailedly investigates several photocatalytic and electrocatalytic reactions including hydrogen evolution reaction, carbon dioxide reduction reaction, oxygen evolution reaction, oxygen reduction reaction, and nitrogen reduction reaction, as well as their practical applications in realistic energy devices. He has been taking up the major leading role in managing over $3m dollars grant from ARC, CSIRO, CSC and industry. Since 2008, he has published more than 200 refereed journal articles including 107 as the first or corresponding author, 87 with an impact factor > 10, 35 with an impact factor > 20, 27 ranked as ESI Top 1% or Top 0.1% Highly Cited Papers, 12 invited reviews, and 12 issued patents. The total citation is over 15,000 times, with an H-index of 54. As a guest editor, he has organized to publish 7 refereed journal issues.

The research work on photocatalysis by Professor Ohtani started in 1981 when he was a Ph. D. course student in Kyoto University. Since then he has been studying photocatalysis and related topics for more than 30 years and published more than 300 original papers (h-index: 72) and two single-author books. After gaining his Ph. D. degree from Kyoto University in 1985, he became an assistant professor in the university. In 1996, he was promoted to an associate professor in Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University and was then awarded a full professor position in Institute for Catalysis, Hokkaido University in 1998 before the retirement at March 31, 2022.

Dr. Jin Shang is an assistant professor leading the Gas Adsorption Lab in the School of Energy and Environment at the City University of Hong Kong (QS world university ranking 53). He did his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne and postdoc work at the University of Melbourne and Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Shang specializes in molecular adsorption, separation, catalysis, storage, and sensing using porous materials such as zeolites and metal-organic frameworks. Jin Shang's group is focused on understanding the fundamental physical chemistry of the molecular adsorption process via combined experimental and computational methods, in order to engineer designer adsorbents and advance the adsorption science underpinning separation, catalysis, sensing, and storage. The research is aimed at solving problems in the environment and energy field, including carbon capture and utilization, methane purification from natural gas/biogas/landfill gas, nitrogen oxides removal and abatement, volatile organic compounds removal, and energy gas storage, etc. Dr. Shang has published over 90 papers (h-index 33, citations > 2900, as of May 2022) in journals such as Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, Chemical Science, Advanced Science, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Chemical Communications, Chemical Engineering Journal, Environmental Science & Technology, Green Chemistry, etc.

Murali Sastry is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering. He obtained his Masters and PhD degrees in experimental condensed matter physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (now Chennai). He moved to the III University of Rome (Tor Vergata) and the Sincrotrone Trieste, where he specialised in surface spectroscopies applied to a range of materials, including metal nanoparticles. He then returned to India and joined the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratories in Pune where he researched Langmuir-Blodgett and organic/hybrid materials, colloid chemistry, novel methods for functionalizing nanoparticles and biological methods for nanoparticle synthesis. In 2005, he moved to Tata Chemicals to set up their Innovation Centre that delivered three new businesses in water purification, nano-oxides and nutrition. In 2011, he moved to DSM India where he helped establish the innovation team and develop a roadmap for new products in renewable energy and nutrition. From 2015-2020, he was the CEO of the IITB-Monash Research Academy

Professor Yamauchi focuses on the design of novel nanocrystals and nanoporous materials toward various applications including batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, chemical sensors, field emitters, and photonic devices. Specifically, nanoporous metals can be produced through surfactant-based synthesis assisted by electrochemical methods. Owing to their metallic frameworks, nanoporous metals possess high electroconductivity and high surface areas, holding promise for a wide range of electrochemical applications. Furthermore, he has developed several approaches towards controlling the orientation of tubular nanochannels. The controlling the geometry of nanochannels at a macroscopic-scale is important for innovative applications such as chemical devices and electrodes with enhanced diffusions of guest species. Professor Yusuke Yamauchi received his Bachelor degree (2003), Master degree (2004), and Ph.D. (2007) from the Waseda University, Japan. After receiving his Ph.D., he joined the National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, to start his own research group. At the same time, he started to serve as a professor to supervise PhD students at Waseda University. He led a team of more than 40 members including senior scientists, postdocs, technical staffs, and PhD students. After being granted the ARC Future Fellowship, in May 2016, he joined the Institute for Superconducting & Electronic Materials (ISEM), Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM), The University of Wollongong (UOW) as a full professor. In 2017, he moved to The University of Queensland (UQ). Presently, he is a senior group leader at AIBN and a full professor at School of Chemical Engineering. He concurrently serves as an honorary group leader at NIMS, a visiting/adjunct/honorary professor at over 50 universities in the world (UOW, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tianjin University, NanJing Tech University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Kyung Hee University, National Taiwan University, King Saud University, King Abdulaziz University, and Waseda University, etc), and an associate editor of the Journal of Materials Chemistry A published by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

In Su Lee received his PhD (2000) from Seoul National University under the supervision of Professor Young Keun Chung. After the work as a senior researcher at LG chemical (2000-2003), the post-doctoral research with Jeffrey Long at UC Berkeley (2003–2005), and the research with Taeghawn Hyeon for Creative Research Initiative Center for Oxide Nanocrystalline Materials at Seoul National University (2005-2006), he worked at KyungHee University as an assistant and associate professor (2006-2011). After this, he moved to POSTECH and joined the Department of Chemistry. He is now a professor of Chemistry at POSTECH and also director of the Creative Research Initiative Center for Nanospace-Confined Chemical Reactions (NCCR). His current research is focused on studying the spatially confined reactions that occurs within nanosized solid-state or solution-phase media and developing nanomaterials for the applications in catalysis and biomedical fields.

Dr. Hao Li is an upcoming Jr. Principal Investigator and Associate Professor at Tohoku University, Japan, since 2022 Spring. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin in 2019. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark. His primary research interests consist of :i) development of materials and catalysis theory, ii) development of computational methodology based upon artificial intelligence, and iii) design of cost-effective catalysts for industrially important reactions.

Dr Munkhbayar Batmunkh is an ARC DECRA fellow in Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre (QMNC) and Lecturer in the School of Environment and Science at Griffith University, Australia. Dr Munkhbayar Batmunkh also worked at the University of Queensland (2018-2019) and the Flinders University of South Australia (2017-2018), and was a visiting scholar in Virginia Tech in the USA. He completed his PhD study in School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Adelaide, in 2017. He obtained his 'Master of Engineering' degree from Gyeongsang National University, in South Korea in 2012. He completed his 'Bachelor of Science' degree in Chemistry at the National University of Mongolia, in Mongolia in 2010. Dr Munkhbayar Batmunkh's research interests focus on materials (science, engineering and chemistry) for energy related applications such as solar cells and catalysis. Francesco Tavani was born on the 24th of September 1995. He graduated from the classical high school Ennio Quirino Visconti in Rome in 2014 with a final grade of 100/100 with honours. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Chemistry in July 2017 at "Sapienza" University in Rome with final grade of 110/110 with honours, with a thesis in Analytical Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Aldo Lagana. He obtained a Master degree in Chemical Physics in July 2019 in the same university with final grade of 110/110 with honours, with a thesis under the supervision of Professor Paola D'Angelo. He has been part, for the period 2014-2019, of Sapienza's Superior School of Advanced Studies (SSAS) as a member of the class of Sciences and Technologies.

Hong Chen, from Changsha, Hunan, received his Ph.D. from Stockholm University in 2014. He has successively engaged in postdoctoral research in the research group of Academician Sun Licheng of the Royal Swedish Institute of Technology, Professor Michael F. Toney of the Synchrotron Radiation Center of Stanford University, and Academician Yang Peidong of the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently an associate professor and researcher at Southern University of Science and Technology, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Environment, deputy director of Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Material Interface Science and Engineering Application, and research group leader. Mainly engaged in "resource recycling and utilization chemistry" research work, in recent years in Nature Materials, Science Advances, PNAS, Nature Communications, Matter, Journal of American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Advanced Materials, Environmental Science & Technology, Nano Letters , ACS Nano and other journals published more than 100 papers, including 48 papers with impact factor greater than 10, 1 hot paper, 8 highly cited papers, Google Scholar total citation times more than 4600 times, h-index 37.
