Dr. Matin has been a full professor at Stanford Medical School for several years and is affiliated with several programs, including the Stanford Cancer Research Institute, He elected to become emeritus, on July 1, 21. His research contributions are numerous, including the discovery of new drugs, therapeutic enzymes, and their improvement as well as their specific targeting to cancer (and other diseases). He did his Ph. D. at UCLA and spent some years in the Netherlands (State University of Groningen), where he directed a research group, before joining Stanford. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors.

Kenneth B Storey is a Canadian. He completed his graduation in 1971 at the University of Calgary in Biochemistry and received a doctorate in 1974 at the University of British Columbia in Zoology. He was appointed as Associate Professor in Biochemistry and Biology at Carleton University, Ottawa. Recently, the group elucidated the distinct mechanisms of nuclear translocation of ERK and p38/JNK, which are used as anti-cancer and inflammation targets. In parallel, he was a visiting scientist at the University of Texas at Austin and a JST PRESTO Researcher. Since February 2016, he has been a Professor at Hokkaido University. His research interests include semiconductor quantum dots, photo-functional molecules, and single-molecule techniques. His research activities are recognized with various awards by the Ozaki Foundation (Gennai Award), the Japanese Photochemistry Association, the Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Association, and the Chemical Society of Japan. In 2011 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Peter Draber obtained Ph.D. in immunology in 2011. Subsequently, he worked as a post-doctoral scientist at University College London in Henning Walczak s group, focusing on proinflammatory signaling and cell death. In 2020 he became a group leader of the Laboratory of Immunity & Cell signaling at Charles University in Prague. His team analyzes signaling pathways activated by pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF) or interleukin 17 (IL-17). His research combines analysis of signaling complexes by mass spectrometry and validation of obtained data using in vivo mouse models.

Jina Ko is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania. She focuses on developing single molecule detection from single extracellular vesicles (EV) and multiplexed molecular profiling to better diagnose diseases and monitor treatment efficacy. Jina graduated from Rice University with a B.S. in Bioengineering and a B.A. in French Studies in 2013 and she earned her Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. During her Ph.D., she developed machine learning-based microchip diagnostics that can detect blood-based biomarkers to diagnose pancreatic cancer and traumatic brain injury. For her postdoctoral training, she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Wyss Institute at Harvard University as a Schmidt Science Fellow and an NIH K99/R00 award recipient. Jina developed new methods to profile single cells and single EVs with high throughput and multiplexing.

Mohamed H. Yousef has completed his master's degree in 2022 from the American University in Cairo. He is currently a research assistant and a Ph.D. fellow at the Institute of Global Health and Human Ecology (IGHHE) at the American University in Cairo. He has been working on several research projects spanning the basic and clinical arenas. He authored/co-authored a number of well-cited articles in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests comprise exploring the pathophysiological underpinnings of neurodegenerative/neuroinflammatory disorders and exploiting these for developing novel theranostic platforms. Mohamed's thesis project constituted a central research endeavor of Dr. Anwar Abdelnaser's lab at the IGHHE and inspired other work by new lab members. The premise of the work entailed exploring a three-fold therapeutic utility of GSK3 inhibition in neurodegenerative diseases, where selective targeting of the GSK3 paralogs was conducive to anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative outcomes, over and above its established modulation of the underlying protein pathology.

J. Csiszar, Associate Professor at the Department of Plant Biology, University of Szeged (Hungary). Her main research interest is the effect of abiotic stresses on the physiological and molecular processes of different plant species. She is the leader of the Plant Molecular Biology group. They focus on the relationship between antioxidant mechanisms, redox status, and growth. Especially the glutathione and glutathione-related enzymes, like glutathione peroxidases (GPXLs) and glutathione transferases (GSTs) are estimated. One of their research programs targets the adaptation of a recently developed redox-sensitive GFP (roGFP2) fluorescent probe to monitor the redox state in living plants or tissues. Currently, they investigate the role and regulation of specific GPXL and GST enzymes in Arabidopsis and tomato roots.

Dr. Natalia Glatzel Plucinska has a master's degree in molecular biology and a Ph.D. in medical sciences. She works as a researcher at the Wroclaw Medical University. She has experience in molecular biology, cell culture, flow cytometry, and digital image analysis. In her research, she focuses mainly on the molecular basis of cancer progression and metastasis. Her recent studies concern the role of SATB1 and Haspin expression in non-small cell lung cancers. Additionally, she is involved in research on breast cancer adoptive immunotherapy. Dr. Lee received his BS in Biomedical Engineering from Inje University (South Korea) in 2002. He completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University in 2010 and received postdoctoral training until 2014 at the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration in the College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lee is currently an Assistant Professor of Craniofacial Engineering (in Dental Medicine). Dr. Lee's research is focused on musculoskeletal and craniofacial tissue regeneration by harnessing endogenous stem/progenitor cells using advanced scaffold systems, control-delivery systems, and translational animal models. In his early research career, Dr. Lee developed an innovative strategy for tissue regeneration by homing the body's own stem cells into defect sites. He applied the new strategy for successful regeneration of synovial joint condyle, tendons, and knee meniscus resulting in publications in prestigious journals, including The Lancet, Science Translational Medicine, and Journal of Clinical Investigation. His recent publication in the Journal of Clinical Investigation was highlighted in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2016. For the last 10 years of his research career including graduate programs, Dr. Lee's publications have been cited over 2,200 times (as of Sept 2017), showing the high impact of his research in the field. Dr. Lee is a recipient of the New Investigator Recognition Award at Orthopedic Research Society (2013), Best Research Mentor Award from Bergen Academy (2011), Webster Jee Young Investigator Award at International Chinese Hard Tissue Society (2009), Young Investigator Award at Society of Physical Regulation in Biology and Medicine (2008), University Dean Award from Inje University (2004), and an international fellowship award from Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (2003). Woo Suk Choi graduated from Korea University with a B.S. in Life Sciences and an M.S in Biochemistry, and he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Structural Biology at Stony Brook University in 2016. He has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at NIDDK / NIH since 2017. His research areas are biochemistry/molecular biology and structural biology using X-ray crystallography and Cryo-EM. He studied protein degradation mechanism (N-end rule pathway) during his M.S. and mitochondrial transcription initiation mechanism during his Ph.D. since his postdoctoral research, He has studied various DNA repair/maintenance mechanisms such as telomere biogenesis and translation synthesis. PROF. HANNA ENGELBERG-KULKA was born in Vienna, Austria.
