Thomas J. Webster's (H index: 117; Google Scholar) degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has served as a professor at Purdue (2000-2005), Brown (2005-2012), and Northeastern (2012-2021; serving as Chemical Engineering Department Chair from 2012 - 2019) Universities and has formed over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health. Dr. Webster has numerous awards including: 2020, World Top 2% Scientist by Citations (PLOS); 2020, SCOPUS Highly Cited Research (Top 1% Materials Science and Mixed Fields); 2021, Clarivate Top 0.1% Most Influential Researchers (Pharmacology and Toxicology); and is a fellow of over 8 societies.

Dr. Roger M. Leblanc received his B. S. in chemistry in 1964 from Universite Laval, Canada, and Ph. D. in physical chemistry in1968 from the same university. He was appointed as professor in 1994 and chair of Department of Chemistry at University of Miami from 1994 to 2002 and again from 2013 to 2021. He was also one of the three editors of Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces from 1998 to 2013. He has published 540 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals. As a professor, he has supervised more than 100 M.S. and Ph.D. students.

Dr. Ralf Hofestadt studied Computer Science and Biology at the University of Bonn. He finished his Ph.D. 1990 at the University of Bonn and his Habilitation (Applied Computer Science and Bioinformatics) 1995 at the University of Koblenz. From 1995 to 1996 he was an Associate Professor for Medical Informatics at the University of Leipzig. From 1996 to 2001 he was Professor for Applied Computer Science at the University of Magdeburg. Since 2001 he has been a Professor of Bioinformatics and Medical Informatics at Bielefeld University.

Masaru Tanaka: He worked for TERUMO Co. and commercialized medical devices such as artificial lung (Approved by FDA and Global market's No.1 share). In 2000 he moved to Hokkaido University and in 2007 he moved to Tohoku University. He was a Visiting Scientist, at Max-Planck-Institute (2008-2009). In 2009 he was awarded a full professorship at Yamagata University. Since 2015, he has been at Kyushu University as a full Professor. Thus far, he has published over 200 papers in peer reviewed journals (H-index 56), 50 book chapter, 125 others, more than 250 patents. He recieved the Japanese Society for Biomaterials Award, the SPSJ Asahi Kasei Award, and the British Council PMI2 Connect-Research Co-operation (UK) Award.

He graduated in both Chemistry (1976) and Physics (1977) at the UnB. Professor Morais is a member of the Brazilian Physical Society and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-IEEE. He has served as a referee for more than 50 technical journals, takes part of the Editorial Board of more than 15 technical journals, and has conducted research on nanomaterials for over 40 years. He is known for his research in the preparation, characterization, and applications of nanosized materials (magnetic fluid, magnetoliposome, magnetic nanoemulsion, magnetic nanocapsule, magnetic nanofilm, magnetic nanocomposite, nanosized semiconductors, polymeric dots, and carbon dots). Professor Raman Singh's primary research interests are in the relationship of Nano-/microstructure and Environment-assisted degradation and fracture of metallic and composite materials, and Nanotechnology for Advanced Mitigation of such Degradations. He has also worked extensively on use of advanced materials (e.g., graphene) for corrosion mitigation, stress corrosion cracking, and corrosion and corrosion-mitigation of magnesium alloys (including for the use of magnesium alloys for aerospace, defence and bioimplant applications). Prof Singhis a senior professor at Monash University, Australia. He was a Visiting Professor at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, US Naval Research Lab, and University of Connecticut. Prof Singh's professional distinctions and recognitions include: Guest Professor of ETH Zurich, Editor of a book on Cracking of Welds (CRC Press), Lead Editor of a book on Non-destructive Evaluation of Corrosion (Wiley), Editor-in-Chief of an Elsevier and two MDPI journals, leader/chairperson of a few international conferences and regular plenary/keynote lectures at international conferences, over 250 peer-reviewed international journal publications and 15 book chapter, and several competitive research grants (that includes 4 Discovery, 7 Linkage and one ITRH grants of Australian Research Council). Prof Singh has supervised 50 PhD students. His vibrant research group at Monash University comprises of PhD students from different disciplines (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials and Mining Engineering, and Science) as well as from different cultural backgrounds (Australian, Middle-eastern, Chinese, Malaysian, Indian, African, North American and Israeli).

Matjaz Finsgar, associate professor at the University of Maribor. Matjaz Finsgar is a professor of analytical chemistry, vice dean at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor, Slovenia, and Head of the Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry and Industrial Analysis. He received his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Ljubljana. Matjaz Finsgar has supervised several students and postdoctoral fellows and has been the principal investigator of several national, international, and industrial research projects. He has published in several journals, has been a reviewer for numerous journals, and has been invited to speak at conferences and universities worldwide. Matjaz Finsgar is a member of several scientific societies and editorial boards.

Dr. Mattia Bartoli has always performed at the highest levels throughout his education and training as proved by research outputs with 107 published peer-reviewed papers in top journals (H-index 31, 2632 citations and several industrial and academic collaborations. He has demonstrated great potential by acquiring and developing new expertise in several disciplines, while expanding his knowledge and skills at every stage. During his PhD, he has been part of the Industrial chemistry group at University of Florence, a multidisciplinary team focused on innovative investigation methods and technological solutions for sustainable waste management and biofuel production. Immediately after the Ph.D. graduation, he moved to Biorefinery research Group hosted by University of Alberta where he contributed to develop new materials for catalytic applications and new technologies. During this period, he also worked as head of R&D for Forge Hydrocarbon a spin-off company of University of Alberta solving several issues of the innovative lipid-to hydrocarbon technology for renewable hydrocarbon production. Thanks to his contribution, Forge Hydrocarbon was able to move from pilot to commercial stage. In 2018, he joined to Carbon Group hosted by Polytechnic University of Turin where he has studied both production and use of carbon from thermochemical conversion of waste streams for material science applications granting more 500k on projects related to carbon based materials. This research track supported him in developing advanced capabilities for independent thinking and planning, management, communication as well as networking skills, establishing excellent international collaborations. Since 2021, Dr. Bartoli is working on CO2 electrochemical and thermochemical conversion and capture and hydrogen storage at the Center for Sustainable Future Technologies - CSFT@POLITO. Dr. Bartoli recognises the interdisciplinary nature of the green energy research sector and puts all his efforts to develop not merely one-case solutions but platforms that could originate solution trees useful for solving complex scenarios by integrating material science with energy oriented approaches . The commitment to this vision has driven Dr. Bartoli's research to achieve outstanding solutions in the field of biofuels, integrating pyrolysis and catalysis for the production of drop-in fuels streams. Furthermore, Dr. Bartoli, together with Prof. Leblanc's group, leads the foundation of chemical formation route of the main families of carbon dots. Recently, Dr. Bartoli investigated the hydrogen storage field enlightening the relationship between ammonia borane decomposition and carbon matrix functionalities. The achievements reached by his research provided a new look to the field, allowing the rational design of new chemically hydrogen stored systems. Since 2021, Dr. Mattia Bartoli has been appointed as Adjunct professor in Chemistry at Politecnico di Torino.

My name is Johnn Majd Balsters and I am a doctoral student at Saarland University. I completed my bachelor’s degree at Leibniz University in Hanover in 2018 and my master’s degree in 2020 at Saarland University. During my master’s thesis I worked for Fraunhofer IBMT at the Project Center for Stem Cell Engineering which is in the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg. In my master’s thesis I characterized alginate scaffolds for iPS cultivation processes in static and dynamic systems. At IBMT, I continued working on tissue engineering as part of my doctoral studies trying to extend the shelf life of protein-coated hydrogels. Having worked for years in the field of tissue engineering, I gained passion for analyzing scientific questions from a materials perspective.

Dr. Barbara Blanco-Fernandez is a "Ramon y Cajal" grantee in the group I+D Farma at the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She holds a PhD in Drug Research and Development from USC. She did her postdoctoral studies at the Department of Radiology at Michigan State University (2015-2017), and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (2018-2022). She has also Industrial experience, working as a junior scientist at the pharmaceutical company Reig Jofre (Spain, 2017-2018). Her main research lines involve the development of (i) biomaterials that recapitulate the extracellular matrix; (ii) bioengineering approaches for the development of more reliable in vitro cancer models; (iii) nanocarriers for cell imaging and drug delivery

Patrycja Makos Chelstowska, Ph.D. Eng is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Process Engineering and Chemical Technology at Gdansk University of Technology (GUT) in Poland. In 2018, she received her Ph.D. in Chemical Technology at GUT, Poland. Her current research interests include the preparation and characterization of bio-based environmentally friendly materials for gaseous and liquid fuel purification. She has won and managed three grants and has participated as a contractor in many national and international projects. She is currently supervising the project "New biosorbents from waste materials modified by green solvents for the purification of gaseous fuel streams."

Alberto Tagliaferro was born in 1957. He got his degree in Nuclear Engineering and his PhD in Physics at Polytechnic of Turin. He is Associate Professor of Solid State Physics in the Applied Science and Technology Department of Polytechnic of Turin. He is head of the Carbon Group, a research group founded in 2002. His research interest have moved in recent years to carbon materials from green sources and waste for a number of applications, ranging from biochar fillers for composites to carbon dots for therapeutic uses. He has published more than 200 papers on Scientific Journals. He is member of the Editorial Board of a few journals including CREST. He is Chair of the Education Committee of IUVSTA (International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications). He is adjunct professor at the OntarioTech University in Canada. His group collaborates with many other research groups worldwide.

Mercedes Paulina Chavez Diaz, Ph.D. Science and Metallurgy Engineering from Escuela Superior de Ingenieria Quimica e Industrias Extractivas at Instituto Politecnico Nacional (ESIQIE-IPN) in Mexico, is a full professor at the Department of Physics from Centro de Estudios Cientificos y Tecnologicos No. 7 "Cuauhtemoc" in Mexico. Her current research interests include biomaterials corrosion, biocompatibility, and osteointegration due to microstructure changes from heat treatment below and above the beta-phase transformation temperature on titanium alloys.

Dr Fernando Viejo Abrante received his PhD degree in Materials Science and Technology from the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain in 2004. He joined the group Characterization, Corrosion, and Degradation of Materials of Technological Interest, where he specialized in corrosion and protection of metallic materials, mainly in "Surface treatments for improving the corrosion resistance of light alloys and aluminum and magnesium matrix composites". Later, he completed two post-doctorate stays at the Spanish Centre of Metallurgical Research (2005-2006) and the Corrosion and Protection Centre of the University of Manchester (UK, 2006-2010). The above allowed him to accomplish his training in the search for light alloy protection systems through participation in research projects related to anodizing techniques, thermal spraying, plasma electrolytic oxidation, laser surface modification, and electroless and chemical conversion. Nowadays, Dr. Fernando Viejo Abrante is a staff professor and Senior Researcher at the School of Chemical Engineering of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS; Colombia), where he works in the development of functionalized hybrid sol-gel coatings for different applications such as biomaterials, corrosion, power generation, and smart windows. As a result of his research activity, he has already published about 70 scientific papers, most of them in the best international journals of materials, coatings, biomaterials, and corrosion science. Likewise, he frequently collaborates as a reviewer of research articles and proposals for Elsevier and different national/international academic institutions.

Laura Andze, dr. chem. Leader researcher at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry. Laura Andze was born in 1986. She got her doctorate degree in Physical Chemistry at Latvia University. She is a Leader Researcher at the Cellulose Laboratory of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry. Her scientific interest is the development of new value-added materials from wood and biomass. Her latest research areas are the use of wood and its components in medicine and cosmetics, e.g. solid wood as bone implant material. She is a leader of national and international projects. She has worked in the governmental research management of national science, leading a post-doctoral program. Thanks to her activity her team collaborates with other scientific groups both nationally and worldwide.

Ranjith K. Kankala works as Associate Professor in the Institute of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering at Huaqiao University, PR China. After receiving his Ph.D. degree in 2016 in the field of nanomedicine from the National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan, he immediately joined as faculty. His expertise relates to preparing cutting-edge nanocomposites and engineered inorganic nano-/micro- hybrid systems for innovative biomedical applications, focusing on drug delivery and tissue engineering. Ranjith K. Kankala has authored over 140 international peer-reviewed publications (Google Scholar:YL8aDgsAAAAJ) in various journals in the field of Biomaterials. He is a referee for top-ranked journals like Nature Communications and many journals in his area of expertise. He has given invited talks at over 30 national and international meetings.

Dr Hatice Ferda OZGUZAR received her MSc. and Ph.D. degrees from TOBB University of Economics and Technology in the Biomedical Engineering Division in 2018 and 2023, respectively. Her main field of study is focused on surface modification with different techniques which include plasma polymerisation (low pressure non-thermal plasma devices, plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition devices, etc.), electrophoretic deposition and also wet chemistry. The developed surfaces have been used with different objectives which are, mass sensitive biosensor development, antifouling/antimicrobial surfaces, drug release systems, hemocompatible/biocompatible surfaces, etc. She started her new post-doctoral position in October 2023 at KU Leuven, Belgium within the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering groups of Prof. Annabel Braem, which she has previously collaborated with the same group during her Ph.D. studies as a visiting Ph.D. student for one year duration.
